Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question that isn’t covered here? Email hello@driveaxel.com and we’ll be happy to help.

How quickly can Axel list my car once I sign up?

Most vehicles are live within 3 business days. Day one is onboarding and paperwork, day two is inspection scheduling, and by day three we deliver pricing guidance and launch your listing across partner marketplaces.

Do you operate outside North Carolina?

We currently support sellers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and can help vetted buyers nationwide. Join the waitlist at hello@driveaxel.com if you are in another region—we are expanding based on demand.

What does KeySavvy escrow do for my sale?

KeySavvy verifies buyer funds, secures payment in escrow, pays off any lien, and releases the balance to you only after the title transfer. It protects both parties from fraud, chargebacks, or counterfeit cashier’s checks.

Can I use Axel if my car still has a loan on it?

Yes. During onboarding we collect your payoff statement, coordinate with your lender, and KeySavvy handles the payoff during closing so you never have to exchange sensitive details directly with the buyer.

What documents do I need to sell my car privately?

You will need your title (or lien payoff letter), registration, driver’s license, recent maintenance records, and, if applicable, emission or inspection certificates. We provide a document checklist inside your Axel dashboard.

How does Axel screen buyers?

We require identity verification, proof of funds, and a short interview before scheduling a live test drive. Buyers who cannot meet those requirements are filtered out to keep your time protected.

Can I back out if I receive a better offer elsewhere?

Absolutely. Until you sign the purchase agreement, you retain full control. Just let your Axel specialist know so we can update or pause the listing and manage communication professionally with interested buyers.

What does Axel charge for its service?

We charge a success-based fee ranging from 6% to 8% of the final sale price, with a minimum of $1,250. There’s no upfront cost—if your car doesn’t sell, you owe nothing.
